Alex Egan is an artist based in Norfolk. She is a member of The Arborealists, a group of artists passionate about trees. Also a member of the Norfolk art collective Group 8.
Her recent practice has focused on trees. Through studying their beautifully twisting limbs and individual personalities, Alex captures their presence and quiet beauty in tree portraits.Through her works, Alex grasps the vitality and transcendence of these other beings, shaping a way to explore our relation to the natural world out of which we have grown.
She is participating in various exhibitions this year with fellow Arborealists. Alex is the Tree artist in residence at Somerleyton. Alex was commissioned to do portraits of trees at the beautiful Houghton estate in Norfolk and to portray ancient trees on the Sandringham estate.
She is currently working on similar commissions at other estates and private gardens whilst also working on trees she finds through exploring the landscape and by personal recommendations.
