Painting

For those who may be interested I am quite old, born a few weeks before the start of World War II although that is purely coincidental. After a fairly pedestrian academic start I attended.

Willesden School of Art studying fine art under William Brooker, Terry Frost, Elizabeth Frink and others. After graduating I spent my entire career in London advertising agencies, in particular Geers Gross where ultimately I became Creative Director and Chairman.

On retiring from that industry my wife Susie (you would like her) and family settled in Suffolk living in Bury. At this point I returned to my roots and started painting again. (Think bicycle and once you have learned etc) I work in acrylic on canvas and always choose subjects that allow me to not only make a graphic statement but a social point also. Sometimes serious, sometimes less so.

I hope my work embodies that which I appreciate in other artist’s work. Namely, draftsmanship and technique but above all the ability to hold a persons attention for a little longer than they might have expected.
