Painting

I have been using Photoshop as part of my process since the 90’s. A rough collage is created and this is used as the reference for drawing the work onto canvas.
I often work with acrylics in the early stages to speed up the painting process, this creates accidents and challenges I like to incorporate into the final work. The freedom and loose quality of this keeps the painting immediate. Realistically painted areas contrast and create tension with bold brushstrokes and graphic elements. I work in series, exploring themes like the North Norfolk landscape, mythology, Jenny Holzer’s truisms, Climate Change and society.

A committee member with NNEP for the first 3 Regional Exhibitions at Salthouse Church. My work has been selected for Salthouse05, & 10, Elements at the Forum & Melt at The Greenhouse Trust Norwich, Sainsbury Centre Late Shift, Inheritance at Norwich Castle Museum, and regularly for the East Anglian Open Kings Lynn. I’ve also exhibited at the dfn Gallery New York, The Mall Galleries with the Society of Women Artists, and the Loggia Gallery, Buckingham Gate London, with the Free Painters & Sculptors 1984-94
