Sculpture

Peter Day is a self-taught artist, sculpturer, engineer and welder working under the name of Rain-E-Days. Having combined a career in design, and engineering in the rail sector, with his passion of working with metal he has developed his skill to create sculptural pieces for outdoor display. His art has a contemporary feel influenced by his experiences, nature, and contemplative view of the world around him to create pieces that has introspective twist on how we interact with others around us and our inner self.

Based in Sudbury, in the heart of Gainsborough and Constable countryside, and working out of his studio, Peter’s medium is predominantly mild steel, but he introduces stone, glass and wood to enhance or support the pieces. All Peter’s works are finished to either delay or prevent the natural oxidization process depending on the piece but often uses this natural process to enhance his work and achieve innovative finishes. Peter enjoys creating his own pieces and works closely with clients determine how best to display the pieces in their chosen location.

Peter’s philosophy is that the client should have a opinion in the work and often work with clients to either develop existing pieces to the client’s design specification or working alongside clients on bespoke commissions. It is this personal approach that is important to him and his preference is to deliver and install personally
