Painting

I am an aspiring artist, as well as working full time in the NHS as a Specialist Physiotherapist. In 2018 I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and as a way of coping I threw myself into my artwork. Painting has now become a passion and a way of dealing with the vagaries of life with a progressive degenerative condition. I love landscapes and seascapes and take inspiration from the coast and countryside of East Anglia, working mostly in oils and sometimes in watercolours.

I am self-taught and find the process of developing a painting both fascinating and enriching as well as occasionally frustrating and surprising. The joy for me is as much in the process as the end product, and I am sure I am not alone in feeling no painting is ever truly finished.

I live in Suffolk, although I have spent a large part of my life in London and the Southeast. Originally, I am from the Welsh Marches, and still feel a pull towards Herefordshire and the West Country. Essentially, I am a country boy and feel very at home in the beautiful Suffolk countryside.
