Michael is an award-winning artist who enjoys painting from his Bury St Edmunds based studio and also plein-air.

His painting ‘Big Sky at Felixstowe Ferry’ was selected from over 4000 entries from the UK and Ireland to win the East of England Artist of the Year Award in 2017.

A former student of Hugo Grenville in Norfolk, Michael has attended numerous painting courses and subsequently exhibited his work widely.

Having started the Shelley Art Group in Suffolk in 2012 to encourage local people with various ailments (depression, cancer, bereavement) to take up drawing/painting to hep the healing process, this has become a regular weekly event
