Description: This painting, created with acrylic and pen on stretched canvas, was inspired by wildflowers in the water meadows near my home in Bury St Edmunds. I walk in the meadows almost every day, noticing the change of the seasons, and how my response to the familiar place is altered by what is happening in my life. The clump of Hemp Agrimony and Purple Loosestrife is taken from observation. But it is also a metaphor for moments of joy that can be found even in difficult times. Loose brushstrokes and muted colours suggest trees in contrast to the vivid colours of the flowers.
